† 2011 data is preliminary. The data forms part of the eight environmental and two occupational safety performance indicators which are being independently assured by Deloitte LLP. Final data will be published here in mid-2012, together with Deloitte’s assurance statement.

Our 17% reduction per tonne of production compared to 2008 represents steady progress. It has been driven by continuous improvements across the majority of our manufacturing sites and also by the disposal of a number of high water-use sites in 2011.
